Vintage 1940s Parker Brothers **Dig Board Game** A GOLD MINE of a game ... and it even features Rich Uncle Pennybags himself (Mr. Monopoly). A lively action game -- the pick does the trick! Great vintage 1940s era game from Parker Brothers -- sorry, precise contents were NOT listed, but it seems like there are plenty of pieces to make a great game. Box is in FAIR condition - very worn from years of storage and use, but graphics are just great. Some of the "calling cards" and "shares" have been bent previously. The six picks seem to be cork on the end (??) and do show cracks/splits and small pieces missing. It looks as if at one time they may have been different colors. Unfortunately, they no longer have whatever sticky substance was applied to pick up the cardboard letters. Might be able to improvise with some poster putty or maybe removable glue dots? The instructions included show evidence of being 'eaten' with tiny holes and a kind of skinned appearance. Here's what's included: Roughly 400 cardboard pieces printed on both sides with letters of the alphabet. 79 Blue "Shares" slips of paper 42 "Calling Cards" - each has two different subjects printed on it. 6 Picks 10 "Gold" Bars Instruction sheet The Head Miner ("dealer") selects a Calling Card which will have 2 lines or subjects (e.g.: a 'boys name' or 'something sweet') printed on it and chooses one of the two
categories listed. Then players use the gold mining picks (which HAD a gummy end) to dig out
letters from a big pile of tiles. The first person to form an answer that correctly fits
into the category selected receives 1 share
of the gold mine (blue slips). 5 shares are exchanged for a gold bar and the winner
is the first player with 3 gold bars. For 2 to 6 players. Appropriate ages would be dependent upon spelling ability. Non-Smoking Home
