Lot is for a very hard to find vintage 1979 board game from HASBRO--the WAR OF THE NETWORKS board game! If you’ve always wanted to be a TV network executive and decide which
shows get a spot in your lineup, War of the Networks is the game for you. The game allows you to buy shows like
“Cattlecar Gigantica,” hire famous stars as cast members (Mona Groana is
definitely going to be the next breakout actress), and ultimately try
to put together a TV lineup that can dominate the ratings. The object of
the game is to win the most money after scheduling three nights of
programming. Players move pawns around a standard square-track board, with spaces
that trigger various events: drawing an event (Flash) card, buying a TV
show or star, etc. Stars are assigned to shows, shows are assigned to
time slots. Shows may be bumped to the next night to accommodate a new
show just purchased. Each player goes around the board once, populating
his Friday night schedule. Once all players have completed the round,
each 30 min slot awards money to the top-rated network, with ex-aequos
splitting the money. The process is repeated for Saturday and Sunday.
When going around the board again, visiting an owned show space forces a
payout to the owner. Finally, the Sunday round is followed by an
additional weekend scoring, where the ratings across all three nights
are summed and compared. The richest network wins. Game is in great shape and comes with all pieces, cards, etc. Board is in excellent condition. Box is in good condition, with one corner split and some shelf wear. A very hard to find game that makes a great addition to a game cabinet or for hours of great fun! See photos.
