You can either play against another person on the same screen or against the computer, or even let the computer play against itself to demonstrate the rules of the game. The manual, which is quite extensive, gives the backgrounds on the games and gives the rules for play, including how to Castle for Chess and Bidding in Bridge. The Chess section gives all the basic rules of the game and explains in particular how the pieces move and their relative values.
